URGENT MATTERS
URGENT MATTERS
Prisoners who have been abused and severely deprived have been trying to file lawsuits against PA Prisons. As a result, they are now being transferred to other PA prisons and placed in SMU (Torture Units) or Mental Health Units. The officials are doing this to discredit the prisoners. The prison officials know, that the prisoners have good reason to file these suits. From personal knowledge of these prisoners, they are jailhouse lawyers, very intelligent and have just been trying to do their time without incident. They have experienced and witnessed severe abuses, to the fact that they have had to endure the losses of their fellow inmates, through forced suicides and actual murders by prison guards.
The PA DOC, know about the atrocities occurring in their prisons. Yet, they refuse to stop it and instead, allow these prison officials to place these abused prisoners in units they know will break them and destroy their minds. THIS IS AMERICA. THESE PRISONERS SHOULD NOT BE TORTURED/ABUSED. SADDAM HUESSEIN WAS KILLED BECAUSE HE ORDERED OR ALLOWED IT IN IRAQ. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMERICA AND IRAQ? NONE
We must call ALL Legislative/Congressional Leaders and demand they investigate these atrocities.

More Press on Prison Torture
And, finally, WDUQ, the Pittsburgh NPR affiliate, ran a story over and over again all morning this Monday on activist efforts to demand the FBI open an investigation into torture in PA prisons, particularly the repression inflicted on Michael Edwards, see enclosed document. For a capsule blog entry visit: http://wduqnews.blogspot.com/2008/12/advocates-call-for-investigation-at-pa.html. As a result of the radio coverage HRC/Fed Up! has been contacted by lawyers, one of who is representing a former prisoner and isolation survivor in a lawsuit scheduled to go to trial in February against DOC personnel for an assault at SCI Greene in 2002. Look for more info on that one as we learn details. . . .
